 These hand-forged scissors are formed on an anvil or by a sledgehammer by the manufacturer who only has one tool for inspection: the eye. The inner side of the blades is called the plane.
When the scissors are closed, the blades are not in contact with one another along the entire length: they are slightly concave. The quality of a pair of scissors depends precisely on this concave characteristic. The concave form is highly visible on the long-bladed scissors.
